Self-healing gold mirrors and filters at liquid-liquid interfaces.

The optical and morphological properties of lustrous metal self-healing liquid-like nanofilms were systematically studied for different applications (e.g., optical mirrors or filters). These nanofilms were formed by a one-step self-assembly methodology of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) at immiscible water-oil interfaces, previously reported by our group. We investigated a host of experimental varia...

Interfacial Redox Catalysis on Gold Nanofilms at Soft Interfaces.

Soft or "liquid-liquid" interfaces were functionalized by roughly half a monolayer of mirror-like nanofilms of gold nanoparticles using a precise interfacial microinjection method. The surface coverage of the nanofilm was characterized by ion transfer voltammetry. These gold nanoparticle films represent an ideal model system for studying both the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of interfacial...

Stabilization of monolayers by metal nanoparticles manifested in oscillations of interfacial potentials

Stabilization of monolayers at the organic-aqueous interface by citrate protected Au nanoparticles is shown to affect the interfacial dynamics and this effect is manifested in the oscillations of the interfacial potential. Variation in the size and concentration of the nanoparticles systematically affects the oscillations, attributed to particle-induced stabilization of monolayers. A structural...

Fluorinated and Charged Hydrogenated Alkanethiolates Grafted on Gold: Expanding the Diversity of Mixed-Monolayer Nanoparticles for Biological Applications.

Low intrinsic toxicity, high solubility, and stability are important and necessary features of gold nanoparticles to be used in the biomedical field. In this context, charged nanoparticles proved to be very versatile, and among them charged mixed-monolayer gold nanoparticles, displaying monolayers with well-defined morphologies, represent a paradigm. By using mixtures of hydrogenated and fluori...
